Single and Searching

Your faithfulness to God will cause God to remember you in waiting for that guy whom the heaven has ordained for you. But how do you know the one whom God has for you? Are there divine clues that guide women in identifying the right man for them?

Marrying the wrong partner in your relationship is not something to be taken lightly. It can break your heart, and worse, it can ruin your life, your future and even the people who are relying on you. Marrying the wrong person is marrying your enemy, which can be a worst nightmare you will wish you never woke up from.

Love is a journey. And just like any other journeys, you have to choose the right path to achieve happiness and success, not only for yourself and the one you love, but also for the relationship you and your partner have. Choosing the wrong person changes the course of the journey entirely.

Here are Biblical signs to channel and prepare you for the journey ahead.

He speaks the words of God.
“For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.” – John 3:34

The man that comes from God speaks the words of God. Hence, listen carefully to his words. Are his words or messages in agreement to what God teaches in the Bible? Does he speak wisdom or foolishness? Of course you wouldn’t know it if you don’t know God’s words in the first place. Thus, arm yourself by studying the word of God.

Bear in mind the words of God in the Bible are like lyrics in a song. When you become conversant with its harmony, you will know when someone sings off key.

We know that God speaks about love, kindness, compassion, patience and truthfulness. So if a man is speaking of the opposite, then obviously he is not from Him.

He practices what he speaks.
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18

Words are useless without actions. So even though a man speaks the words of God, if he doesn’t practice them, you can conclude that he’s only pretending and not really the man sent to you by the Heavens. The man should be able to walk his talk, not just talk.

He doesn’t lie.
“Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.” – Proverbs 12:22

Of course God will not send you someone who is a liar. God detests lying, right? All liars are children of the devil. You cannot be faithful to God and he gives you a liar.

He doesn’t corrupt your good character.
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” –  1 Corinthians 15:33

God will not send you a man who will destroy your good habits, attitude and whole character. Hence, ask yourself, does he inspire you to grow as a better person or does he influence you to do bad things? When someone is in your life but devalues you or makes you a negative, you don’t permission just run without looking behind.

He honors and respects you.
“Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” –1 Peter 2:17

Your man should know how to respect you as a woman and as person. He should honour you rather than put you in shame. A man that does not honour/ respect you from the beginning will not do same after you are married.

He is just and merciful.
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” – Micah 6:8

God encourages us to show justice and mercy. Hence, expect that the person He will send to you will show the same, not the other way around. Sister you are not an object of pity, don’t marry out of pity. The man for you must a bowel of mercy like God our father. When a man has a bowel of mercy tolerance is a key attributes he exibit.

He makes sacrifices.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

The verse above tells that God made a great sacrifice to show His love to us. If a man truly loves you, he will also make sacrifices for you. It may not be a divine sacrifice like what God did, but it can be some sacrifices to save you or your relationship, like sacrificing his own ambition, material possessions and other important stuff. Avoid any man that is interested in your pay check. If he cannot go an extra mile now when you get married he will never.

He forgives you.
“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” – Colossians 3:13

Does he forgive you when you make mistakes or does he hold grudges in his heart? This is a question you should find an answer to know if he is from God or not. Such an unforgiving fellow will keep bagagges that will affect the your marital journey.

He gives you grace.
“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:7

Love must be unconditional remember. Grace is a gift given to you even if you don’t deserve it. It’s different from a blessing since you will only receive blessing if you work for it. You will realize that a man is from God if despite of your shortcomings, he’s still kind and generous to you. Even if you feel like you don’t deserve his love, he still loves you.

Use the above as a guide to decode the right man for you. In additional to the above he must explicitly manifest the fruits of the spirit. The right man for you may not be perfect and get all of the above, but as long as he is humble, God-fearing and honest enough to admit his shortcomings and he is patient and determined to grow as a person, you know there is hope. Besides, “love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things” – 1 Corinthians 13:7.

Finally, also remember that although God will send the right man for you, you may still lose him if you will reject him or do nothing. Therefore, don’t just spend your life waiting for the man whom God has for you but you should also strive to be the woman whom God has for him. Equip yourself to be a Proverb 31 woman.
